This course is designed for candidates seeking to develop the knowledge, skills, and competencies required to operate a leisure boat of up to 12 metres in length, by day and night, within 10 nautical miles of the nearest safe haven.

Upon successful completion of the course, candidates will be able to:
• Apply principles of safe navigation and seamanship in coastal waters.
• Operate and manage a vessel up to 12 m LOA for leisure purposes, by day or night, within 10 nm from a safe haven.
• Interpret and apply COLREGs in all visibility conditions.
• Demonstrate compliance with safety equipment, emergency procedures, and voyage planning.
• Identify and apply the IALA Buoyage System in navigation.
• Demonstrate proficiency in vessel handling, maneuvering, and emergency response.
• Maintain operational records and ensure adherence to flag state requirements.
Candidates must successfully complete both a written examination and a practical evaluation.
A minimum passing grade of 70% must be achieved in each assessment.
Upon successful completion, candidates will be awarded the ISSA Boat Master – Leisure Coastal License, valid for motor vessels up to 12 m LOA, operating day and night within 10 nm from a safe haven for Leisure purposes.
The Certificate is issued in alignment with the ISSA Competency Framework, and relevant international maritime standards.
Certification is valid for five (5) years and is subject to renewal in accordance with ISSA requirements.
